It is no exaggeration if one utters that Fazilka is a popular township of temples. People of this tiny township are highly religious, co-operative, hospitable, suave and innocuous and it is because of their regular religious & spiritual activities in this city. Hanuman Mandir, popularly known as Sidhshri Hanuman Mandir which had come in existence was built with the constant efforts of Mahavir Dal- a religious organization in 1965.
The people of the city are the witnesses with how much struggling efforts of the volunteers of the Mahavir Dal, this- one of the oldest temples of the city now- had come into being. It is now the main attraction of citizens of Fazilka. Although, the Dal was formed in the year of 1936 but the efforts started after philanthropist late Jagannath Khetaram Aggarwal had donated a chunk of some 2 acre land for the construction of Hanuman Temple to the members of the Dal.
If the members of the Mahavir Dal had not collected the money by roaming from home to home, the shrine might not have excelled the city and its people despite the bequeathed land. About the temple, it is said that this one is the first temple of the city which had started the ritual of Akhand Paths in succession.
In the vicinity of the temple, a model school is also being run. Prithi Raj Nagpal who is now patron had been the president of the shrine for about 14 years. Bobby Krishan Sachdeva is now the president of Hanuman Mandir. The temple is always the favourite haunt of saints visiting Fazilka from time to time from different places.
