Shri Sarvdharam Yog Sadhna Kendra (Regd.) was established in tiny city Fazilka with the indefatigable efforts of yoga guru Dr. Sukh Ram Ji (Ph. D in Yoga) of Abohar in the year of 1993. The main purpose of establishing the Yog Kendra in the city was then to make the citizens healthy, fit and strong who were victims to abdomen ailments because of the unhygienic water of the township.

Swami Sukh Ram Ji: Founder
In its initial days, it was started in Sunder Ashram; then shifted to DAV Sr. Secondary School after six months. Also, it continued some seven years in DC Model High School from 1994 to 2001. Now, the Yog Kendra has its own building along with Manav Kalyan Sabha Aashram (a home for oldage people) in the neighborhood of recreation club road with five six rooms’ facilities plus toilets, plus other requisite facilities. Sideway the building, there are two grassy grounds where yoga aficionados- both women and men do their practices including different sorts of exercises under the supervision of the head of the institute Mr. Harbans Lal Kataria and associates Mr. Hari Chand Chugh, Ms Darshan Khunger and Ms. Aanchal Chopra.
Now, more than six hundred members are registered with the institute. Mr. Harbans Lal Kataria, retired from Public Health Department says that every day almost hundred members, apart from some others, walked over Yog Kendra for meditation and exercise and it has now become a boon to the people of the township.
Mr. Bajrang Lal Gupta: Man behind the vision
Mr. Harbans Lal Kataria, who also writes articles about yoga, eulogizes that it was the untiring efforts of the Mr. Bajrang Lal Gupta, then President Municipality which brought the permanent Yog Kendra in Fazilka. Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyani, then forest minister who shared pleasantries with Mr. Niraml Singh Kahlo, then Rural Development & Panchayat state minister- both made efforts in acquiring quarter & half acre land from government to run the yoga activities. If Mr. Gupta had not convinced Mr. Jyani, the Yoga Kendra might not have come into existence, Mr. Kataria says. Also, Mr. Kahlo had inaugurated the building. It was registered in the year of 1999, Mr. Kataria concludes.

Q: Where did you learn Yoga?
Ans: Way back four five years, I used to visit morning walk daily while I noticed Swami Yoganath practicing yoga, I thought I too should learn yoga and right then I did with determined mind. Now, I offer my services to Sarvdharam Yog Sadhna Kendra, Fazilka.
Q: How did you feel serving the people?
Ans: I enjoy and more comfortable for me is: ailing patients are curing with my efforts.
Q: How many people are associated with this organization?
Ans: We are four instructors and more than 600 people are registered with this organization.
Q: What is the need of instructors if the markets are flooded with books on Yoga?
Ans: I absolutely disagree with it. Yoga must be practiced under supervision otherwise it might not benefit you. It is the only Yoga instructor who could let you know how much practice you should have need of.
Q: What are the advantages of Yoga; please brief?
Ans: Advantages are limitless. Let me name a few aasanas such as shav aasan, Surya Namaskar, Bhujang aasan, Tar aasan, goumukh aasan – all are beneficial to maintain your health in fit. Even laughing with loud cracks and clapping with vigour too are advantageous of you.
