Fazilka, popularly known as a township of suave, innocent and religious people, is a small city, close by International Indo-Pak border. It was established by 1844 by Mr. Oliver, about 164 years back. Before partition, it was known as “Bangla” and also it was one of the biggest wool markets of Asia. About the origin of the city, it is said that Mr. Mian Fazil Watoo had bequeathed the land for the township. Hence, the name of the township is after him.

It is about 325 km from its capital Chandigarh. It is one of the major rice exporting centers of India. The first railway line through the town was set up in 1898 on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the accession of Queen Victoria. As it is close by the International Indo-Pak border so the people of Fazilka have to brave the brunt of two wars, 1965 & 1971.

Its “Tosha” a kind of sweetmeat is largely famous not only in the country but the worldwide also. The township is proud of second biggest TV Tower which is almost 305 meters above the ground.
